The Most Popular Smartphone this Holiday Season
Ever heard of a “phablet”? The term has taken the world by storm—America included. This holiday season, big, tablet-sized smart phones (coined a “phablet”—screens measuring between 5 and 6.9 inches, like the iPhone Plus) had the biggest surge in activations from December 19 through December 25.
Over the past three years, medium sized smartphones (3.5- to 4.9-inch phones) like the iPhone 6 have seen a decrease in sales. Overall, 44% of new phone and tablet activations were Apple devices with Samsung seeing 21% this holiday season.
Did you know Christmas Day is the biggest day for app downloads year over year according to Flurry? The most popular categories were Messaging & Social, Games, Music, Media, & Entertainment, and Kids & Family apps.
